Have you always been interested in curling but not sure where to start?
Join our Learn to Curl program this fall and discover everything you need to get started in the sport! Our friendly and experienced instructors will guide you through it all — from how to safely get on and off the ice, to the rules of the game, and everything in between.
Eight-Class course: September 3 to 29
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
After each session, relax and take the opportunity to connect with your fellow Learn to Curlers and instructors!
What to bring:
✅ Clean, comfortable shoes, such as gym shoes
✅ Warm layers and comfortable pants (we recommend avoiding jeans)
✅ A readiness for fun!
The equipment package is $85.00 + HST and includes:
The grippers and slider are designed to fit over your regular indoor athletic shoes. For the best fit, we recommend selecting one size larger than your normal shoe size, particularly if you wear wider shoes or prefer a little extra room.
Join us for a novice-focused strategy clinic hosted by Celina Thompson. This interactive session combines off-ice instruction and on-ice learning to help you build confidence, improve decision-making, and deepen your understanding of the game.
Celina is fantastic at breaking things down and answering questions, so come ready to learn, participate, and put some of what you learn into practice on the ice.
Topics will include:
This is a great opportunity for novice curlers looking to develop a better understanding of the game in a supportive and interactive environment. You do not need to be on a Tuesday Night Novice team to participate — novice curlers and team members from other league nights are welcome.
Members: $45 + tax
Non-Members: $55 + tax
The clinic includes both on-ice and off-ice components, so please bring your curling gear.
Advance registration is required so we can plan appropriately and ensure the clinic runs smoothly.
Have something you'd particularly like Celina to cover? Let us know in the comments section when you register. Suggestions for topics you'd like to see covered in future clinics are also welcome.

Founded in 1905, the Mayflower Curling Club is a landmark in Halifax's rich history. In 1912 the ice shed was used as a morgue for victims of the infamous Titanic sinking, and just five years later the club was destroyed in the devastating Halifax explosion. The Mayflower, which houses eight sheets of ice for leagues of all levels, is one of the most well-known clubs in Canada. We embrace all levels of curling from beginners to competitive and we hope to see you on the ice soon.
